3/1/2010 - All-Region Honor Choir
Congratulations to all the students who auditioned and received a chair in the 2010 All-Region Honor Choir. Though the sight reading and solos were a bit of a challenge, Central's finest blew us all away with a triumphant victory of 7 students, 4 making it into the top 10 chairs of their section. We would like to recognize all the talent singing in that choir proudly. In the alto section, two wonderful ladies, Ania P, 2nd chair, and Swalynn C, 5th chair. Next is the soprano Megan D with the 7th chair. In the men’s sections, leading the basses is Nick M with the 9th chair and then Kevin P with the 16th chair. Following are the tenors Josh T, 20th chair, and Will R, 14th chair. All the performers did a wonderful job preparing for this event continuing to help Central Choir make a name for itself that exceeds every expectation.
12/06/2009 - Holiday Dinner
This year North and Central High School combined to present the 1st Annual North Central Holiday Dinner. This was the first combined effort between the two choir program and it was incredibly successful. Choir students from both programs had the opportunity to perform various holiday songs together. The dinner was served by the students throughout the performances. The dinner was a wonderful success and we look forward to having this concert again next year.
7/24/2009 - The Wonderful Choir Retreat
Can you imagine spending 3 days of your summer at school, working and acquiring new life skills? I mean, aren't you just supposed to sleep all day and save the learning for school? Well, not for the Central High School Choir officers! Starting July 21st, and ending July 23rd, all eight officers worked diligently as a team, persevering through some whacky lessons in the Choir Officer Retreat. The officers were each assigned a specific job that they were fitted to, best serving our choir. Nick, Vice President last school year, has now taken on the role of President. He oversees all other officers including Treasurer Monique, Secretary Jenna, Historian Levi, Morale Officer Imani, Vice President Heather, Librarian Megan and Publicist Laurel. The officers learned about trust, leadership and how to guide others on the right path. Officers also learned to be themselves, but also to mold to others' personalities through effective communication and discipline. Preparation and getting the task done were always at hand, whether we were planning a meeting or designing new choir shirts. If you think walking around the Central campus with a blindfold on is hard, trying getting eight pairs of feet on a piece of paper without touching the toxic peanut butter... Meeting adjourned!
4/26/2009 - Cabaret 2009 is a hit!
Performers at this year’s Cabaret performed to a sold-out house. It was an outstanding series of performances for everyone who attended. This year's Cabaret was the 18th time the performance has taken the stage. This year, however, there was a new twist... dinner. The fully catered event marks a new evolution in concert. Audience members are now able to enjoy a full meal, served by the students, while also being entertained. Though the curtains have closed for this year, look out for another outstanding show next year. I wonder what the next twist will be.
3/13/2009 - Success at All-Region Hundreds of students from around the state auditioned and 4 of our students were selected for the 2009 All-Region Honor Choir. This is a very difficult audition where students must demonstrate not only solo vocal skills but also the ability to sing music the first time they see it. The students participated in the All-Region festival under the direction of Dr. Judy Durocher. The performance was outstanding and the students had an amazing experience. Congratulations Acacia, Ania, Emmanuel, and Kevin; you all are stars!
1/17/2009 - Performance with Dr. Scribner
Central was lucky to host a new event this year. The administration and leadership teams from the schools that feed into Central were invited for a "get to know us" event. Students from various groups spoke and performed, but the morning’s highlight was the performance from our very own, A Cappella Anonymous. The group, even in the absence of their director, showed what our program is all about... professionalism, performance, and positive attitudes. Great job A Cappella!
11/6/2008 - Michele Weir visits Central Choir
Central Choir was very lucky to have prominent jazz musician, arranger, and educator Michele Weir come and spend an afternoon working with Una Voce. The students spent time learning about jazz style, improvisation, theory, and working with Ms. Weir on jazz performance skills. The students had an amazing time and are looking forward to putting their new skills to good use and the Jazz/Mad Festival in February. To learn more about our clinician, please visit her site at www.michmusic.com.
10/5/2008 - Outstanding Auditions for Greater Phoenix

There were 5 students selected for the Madrigal Choir, which is comprised of the top 16 singers from the audition, as well as 17 students selected for the 70-voice Honor Choir. This was an outstanding achievement for all of the students who participated.
9/17/2008 - National Anthem for Diamondbacks
Central High's Una Voce was invited to perform the National Anthem for the PUHSD night at Chase Field. Though the echo was a new experience the students sounded great. Miss the performance? Go to the media page and watch the video.
8/27/2008 - Choir Performs for Presidential Hopeful
Central High played host to Senator John McCain on August 25, 2008 in a hastily called press conference in the library at 8:15 a.m. The choir was invited to perform the National Anthem in the presence of the Republican candidate for the office of the President of the United States. This was indeed an honor and something our students will never forget.

05/04/2008 - Cabaret Congratulations choir on a fantastic 17th Annual Cabaret performance. The show ran for two night and was a big success. The desserts were tasty and the singers were spectacular. Look for this event to become bigger and better next year.
